The fact that the Sony Xperia Z is waterproof has not gone unnoticed. It’s not the first attempt by a manufacturer to make their handset completely waterproof, but they are the first to successfully leverage that feature into a real marketing tool. It’s a bit surprising to us, because who among us has never felt the woe of dropping their phone in the toilet bowl, or diving into a pool only to realize they left their smartphone in their swimsuit pocket after the fact?
Samsung has not missed this and according to our colleagues over at Techview, they have a waterproof Galaxy S4 in the works as well.
In terms of waiting time no announcement was made. We can reasonably assume that if such a model was released, it would be so around the fall, allowing enough time for the first wave of the Galaxy S4 to swell down. However, this information comes from a regional director at Samsung, and should be taken with a grain of salt.
Would you want to wait for the waterproof S4? Or will you buy the original Galaxy S4 when it is released in a few days? Tell us in the comments!
